GetPhDReady Bootcamp

Free, selective preparation for funded PhD applications. We don’t fund PhDs. We help you win one.

The GetPhDReady Bootcamp is a series of live sessions for students preparing to apply for fully funded PhD positions, such as studentships, doctoral training programmes and graduate teaching assistantships. It is led by Dr Niaz Chowdhury and the LSLIT team.

Free · Selective · Limited places. Places are awarded by application. Applying does not guarantee a place.

What you will learn

  • Finding funded PhD positions and understanding how funding works
  • Contacting potential supervisors
  • Writing a research proposal
  • Academic CVs and statements
  • Preparing for PhD interviews

Who should apply

  • Final-year undergraduate students, Master’s students and graduates planning to apply for a funded PhD within the next 12 months

Next cohort

Dates, format and the number of places for the next cohort will be announced on StudyAbroad.ac. Register your interest below and we will tell you when applications open.

How selection works

Applying takes about 15–20 minutes. You will share your background, upload your CV and write a short answer (around 200 words) about the research area you want to pursue. We select applicants based on academic background, readiness to apply in the next 12 months and the quality of the written answer.

What we ask of you

  • Confirm your place within 48 hours of being selected
  • Attend the first session and at least 80% of all sessions
  • If you miss two sessions without letting us know, your place goes to the next person on the waiting list

Students who complete the bootcamp receive a certificate of completion.

Register your interest

Registering interest is not an application and does not guarantee a place. It simply means we will contact you when applications for the next cohort open.

Questions

Does LSLIT fund PhDs or pay tuition?

No. LSLIT does not pay tuition fees or stipends. Funding comes from universities, research councils and other funders. The bootcamp prepares you to apply for that funding.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no fee. Because places are limited, we select applicants and ask everyone who joins to commit to attending.

I was not selected. Can I apply again?

Yes. Strong applicants who miss out are given priority for the next cohort. In the meantime, our Guidance section covers research proposals, statements and interviews.
