StudyAbroad.ac is a live online newspaper for students going abroad for higher study. We report on scholarships, funded PhDs, admissions, visas and student life, and publish stories as news happens.
Who we are
StudyAbroad.ac is published by the London School of Leadership, Investment, and Technology Ltd (LSLIT), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13622178).
Our Editor-in-Chief is Dr Niaz Chowdhury, a university lecturer in AI and Data Science who has been mentoring students applying abroad since 2007. A computer scientist, he did postdoctoral research at The Open University and is the author of a book on blockchain and cryptocurrencies published by Taylor & Francis.
What we publish
- Scholarships — open funding opportunities for Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral study, each with its level, country and deadline, plus a directory of annual schemes.
- News — changes to universities, regulations and visa rules that affect international students.
- Guidance — practical guides to applications, statements of purpose, research proposals, English tests, visas and money.
- Editorial and Opinion — our view, and the views of academics, researchers and students.
- Success Stories — real students on how they got there.
Our editorial standards
- Official sources first. We check facts against the original source — the university, the funder or GOV.UK — and link to it. Many stories show the date we last checked.
- Clear bylines. Every story shows who wrote it and when. Some stories come from our desks (News Desk, Money Desk); Opinion pieces carry the writer’s name and role, and the views are their own.
- AI-assisted drafting. Some news stories are drafted with the help of AI tools. Every one is checked against its sources and approved by an editor before it is published.
- General information, not advice. Our visa and money guides explain official rules in plain language. They are not immigration or financial advice. For your own case, ask the university’s international team or a regulated adviser.
- Consent for real stories. We publish names, photos and quotes in Success Stories only with written consent, and say clearly when someone was an LSLIT mentee.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. Tell us at editor@studyabroad.ac.
How we are funded
StudyAbroad.ac is free to read. It is paid for by:
- Advertising, which is always labelled “Advertisement”. Advertisers do not choose or approve what we write.
- LSLIT’s mentorship work. LSLIT’s mentorship is free for self-funded students because our partner universities support it. We say so wherever we mention it, and a university’s partnership does not buy it coverage.
Sponsored content or affiliate links, if we ever use them, will be clearly labelled.
